STUDY OF WAVE DOMINANT DIRECTIONS ON SEDIMENT TRANSPORT IN THE ESTUARY OF KAPUAS RIVER, PONTIANAK, WEST KALIMANTAN

The Kapuas River is a very important water transportation route in West Kalimantan, crossing 5 districts and 1 city. problem that occurs the shipping lane on accumulation of severe sediment at mouth estuary. This becomes an obstacle for ships with large loads to sail, this reason, research was carried out. purpose study determine dominant direction waves transport. calculated using CERC (Coastal Engineering Research Centre) method secondary data. It found wave came from North (N) incidence percentage 22.496%. Percentage occurrence Northwest (NW) 12.145%, (W) 6.253%, Southwest (SW) 11.724%. While amount transport -393062.1306 m3/year characteristics being clay, it -250.1672 silty clay Southwest, 579090.2782 clay. results calculation have negative which indicate there no West, but deposited. For necessary carry out appropriate handling these problems reduce build-up area.
